Dear Jen: I too am terrible in math. Some people just aren't born with math skills. Unfortunately, that's not our excuse, is it? Perhaps it was the fact that we sat through our very challenging "Consumer Math" class and drew characatures of our fat slob of a Harley bikin', coke doin', "if and only if" sayin', slow-talkin', no hair havin', elfin' magic shoe wearin, teacher who kicked us out constantly for laughing in his class. I blame you for my lack of mathematical education. I think we're the only two students who had to take Consumer Math (math for retards) twice. :)
There were no calculators when I was a kid. The closest we came to one was either an abacus or a slide ruler. Most of the readers probably have never seen a slide ruler.
Math always came easy to me. Not to brag, but I even got the highest score on the AP Calculus exam which got me out of a few hours in college. I'm sure if I looked at a differential equation nowadays I'd be like a deer caught in the headlights.
Jen, you're so hard on yourself. I don't think you sucked at math at all. You might not have tried, but I don't think you sucked at it. However, I bet Angela sucked at it. I just get that "feeling"...

I too, sucked at math, BIG TIME. Now I have my own kids who come to me for help and I am at a loss.... I should dig out that calculator and tell them "good luck".
