we told him when he was ready to sell it - we would buy it back...
for less than we sold it to him for of course!

I drive a Ranger. I think I'll continue to buy pick-ups for the forseeable future.
As long as you have a friend with a truck, you don't need one.
I once had a beautiful red GMC Sonoma extended cab pickup. I loved it. I traded it in after we had our first child.
MY husband did the same thing... He brought a new SUV but is holding onto the pick up truck "just in case we need to move something"
