Dan Patrick of ESPN Sports was the almost bumped as the second guest. Ironically he was also the guest when Farah had her meltdown on Letterman years ago.
He spoke of his 2 mins on Letterman and said Seinfeld walked off the stage saying, “Good luck following that act!”
Patrick said he was nervous, stunned and confused. He didn’t know what the heck was going on.
The crowd was confused when Richard’s spoke, thinking he was being comical as Kramer, and then Seinfeld tells the crowd to "stop laughing, it isn't funny" when they chuckle during his apology. There's little probability the crowd knew what Richard's was talking about because they could not have seen the Internet clip by the time they were in the studio.
Patrick said it was so weird that he was to be the funny guest on a show with two of today’s great comedians.
Bottom line: Richard's revealed his true feelings about blacks on stage Friday night. Gibson revealed his deep feelings about Jews. These guys can apologize all night long.
I also believe "PC'ness" has given the illusion people are more civil then they really feel deep down.
Any public personality is NUTZ today if they speak when not in their right mind. Technology and the Net has changed everything!
I just saw this afternoon on The Insider. The comedy club clip where he just lost it, I mean. How crazy was THAT? They also spoke to the heckler as well for about two seconds. I was never into Seinfeld, either. They interviewed that funny Hispanic comedian Paul Rodriguez and he said, "The guy just killed his career. He committed hari-kari." As for the apology, he didn't believe it. I didn't either, to tell you the truth. I agree with Dick Small. It's one thing to say it and say "I'm kidding" a few seconds later. And 3 days later to make an apology is 3 days too late for me. The guy has issues.

I saw on a commercial he was going to be on Letterman, but I thought they were making fun of Mel Gibson again. I thought, "That's old news."
Then I heard the real story this morning. Never got into Seinfeld, but I am sure fans are horrified.

If you say it, it's because you mean it. So disappointing.
It's one thing to say something for 5 seconds and then say, I was kidding. I could believe that. But for 3 minutes? No excuse.
Hey Jen-- I had this pulled up in Cul-de-Sac too.
A little sad for all

Wow, somebody agrees with me.... THAT'S unusual..
... I mean, it doesn't happen often, you know..
What an effing loser this guy is. I used to think he was funny, now I think he's a lousy piece of shit.
I posted about that...it was awful..very very disturbing, and I don't buy his excuse
